My son leaves for Outremer.
And so the vigil begins again.
Again, far away places are included in the geography of family mind.
God keep.

Crawling back to the computer today I found that three more lovely ladies have reviewed Dark and Disorderly.
Carla at www.romfanreviews.com/2010/08/review-dark-and-disorderly-by-bernita.html gave D&D a 4 out of 5 review. This review is due to the good offices of my dearest Ric who recommended D&D to her.
Anna at http://www.annathepiper.org/ also gave D&D 4 out of 5 stars.
And Marissa at http://sizzlinghotbooks.blogspot.com/ gave D&D five stars.
I appreciate these wonderful reviews so much, not only because they justify the chance Carina Press took with D&D but also because their consistency emphasizes the strengths of the book and reassure me about what I'm doing right with Lillie's adventures.

Don't You Just Hate It? Dep't:
When a real live person has a name you'd like to use in a novel.
There's a lovely television journalist on CNN by the name of Solidad O'Brien...a perfect name for a heroine. I love it. It's mysterious and beautiful, just like Raine Weaver in her Secret Garden--but it's already taken...

Floppy Disks:
Wary of another relapse, but some improvement.

Yellow ribbon, indeed. I know you worry.
Glad you are feeling some improvement.
Very good reviews that captured the flavor of D&D well. God bless and keep your son.
may he return unharmed!
wb, hope the relapse gets lost on its way to you...
grats on the continuing great reviews, anything but would be lies
as for names, i'm sure you can use solidad, if not the o'brien part :)
Yes, please, that he stays safe and returns unharmed.
Great reviews!
Prayers of safekeeping for your son, Bernita. May there soon be no need.
More congrats on the great reviews. Ladies of exceptional taste, obviously. :)
And thank you so much for the lovely compliment! I remember being struck by the flavor of Solidad's name when I first heard it too.
I might use that name anyway.
I'll pray for your son's safe return.
I know a friend of Solidad. (Today's useless bit of information.)
Glad to see you making it back to the keyboard! And yay for D & D!
Bernita, all the best to your son and you!
Congrats on the great reviews!
a real live person has a name you'd like to use in a novel - so, use it! :-)
Thank you, Written.
One can't help feel the odds go up with successive deployments.
Considering and thoughtful reviews, Bernard, not toss-off casual. These are good readers who give books a fair shake.
(Of course I'm entirely prejudiced!)
Thank you. God bless and keep all our boys.
LW, thank you.
I never expected reviews this consistently positive!
So far, so good...
Thank you, Natasha. I expect I just have a bad case of Mommyfuss.
Raine, you are as beautiful as your name.
Awfully tempting, isn't is, Charles!
Thank you.
Jason, then sometime you might pass on my admiration of her skill, her face, and her name!
Thank you. The thing I've missed most in this enforced isolation is reading everyone's blogs.
You dear girl, Vesper, thank you.
I had a crush on a boy in HS named Sean Kelly. God was he adorable.
In college we met again and he told me he'd had a crush on me too! (We both had moved on by then, but it was amusing.)
I told him then that I'd use his name in a story someday. And he's up in two books. :)
Bought your book on my new iPad kindle app.
Prayers for your son, btw. May they all come home safe.
Hee, Betsy, I had a similar experience--a guy from my first year in college!
Funniest thing...his parents happened to be present during our mutual confession...I remember his father looked very proud. His mother, however, was not amused!
Thank you.Especially for your prayers.
I should have said our gallant girls as well as our boys.
Our girls serve in frontline combat just like our guys.
Best wishes for your son. I wish we could call all this foolishness off and just bring everyone home safely.
Angie
I love Solidad. She's awesome. :-D
Congratulations on the great reviews, Bernita.
I hope your son stays safe and returns the same way he left. ;-)
Thank you, Angie and dear Demon.
may your son return unharmed in any way to his home.
as for the name - it would bother me quite much, too.
As always, may the Angels watch over your son.
Consistently good reviews...
Did we doubt this?
Hope you're able to enjoy these last wondrous days of glorious summer.
Your son will be fine. Fear not. :) Congrats on the continued glowing reviews of D&D. Be careful with your back--don't overdo anything.
My best wishes to you and your son as he goes off overseas. I wish there was some way for you not to worry about him but I don't know what it would be. I feel for you.
Congrats on the continuing good reviews, which reveal the excellent taste of the reviewers.
google sux! i told me 5 min ago this site does not exist! GRRRRRRRR
I'm guessing if you're not posting it's because you're feeling bad. I hope your back isn't acting up again, or rather, more.
Just want to let you know I'm thinking of you.
dokka wuff sez: get lotsa rest, comfort foods, read, write a bit... and snooze with your 4-legged kids ;)
SzelsoFa, Ric, Lana, Fairy, Laughing Wolf, thank you, all of you, from the bottom of my heart for your good wishes.
Hi Bernita,
I'm trying to catch a handful of blogging friends... I've lost most of my email addresses, so please forgive this message on your blog. But I hope you can visit from time to time. I miss conversation with writerly friends.

:-)
I seem to recall (from the director's commentary to Shaun of the Dead of all things) that if you can find like five people with the same name, it's fair game.
Question is, could there possibly be five Solidad O'Briens in the world??
My prayers for your boy...
