Now Playing: Sins of the Mouth

English Lass with Apple,

unknown artist,

oil, 18-19th century.

Blogging is exploration.

One can always discover new people, new landscapes, new ideas.

Since winter often reduces me to the level of a growling beast gnawing on bloody bones in an icicle-hung cave, I counter atavism by a little mental tourism -- and encountered Alex Fleetwood, the Hampshire Flyer.

Who -- for my sins of the mouth -- promply bestowed on me A Prolific Blogger Award.

Every winner of the Prolific Blogger Award has to pass on this award to at least seven other deserving prolific bloggers. Spread some love!
Each Prolific Blogger must link to the
blog from which he/she has received the award.
Every Prolific Blogger must link back to
This Post, which explains the origins and motivation for the award.
Every Prolific Blogger must visit this post and add his/her name in the Mr. Linky, so that we all can get to know the other winners.

And thus I name:

Laughingwolf of paws and reflect

Charles of RAZORED ZEN

Bernard (aka The Hunk), Bernard's Blog.

Beautiful Raine Weaver in her Secret Garden

And then there's Archer, and Whirl, and Fairy, and MoonmouseDear, and Natasha, and...

I'd better stop now.

A couple more in The Abuse of Foreign Phrases Department:

Bun jour - a daily special at the bakery.

Ah, mon char: what you say when you burn someone you don't like anymore.

It's very kind of you to think of me, Bernita!

My blog is an award-free zone at the moment but I'm very flattered at being mentioned. I shall check out the others that you've linked to.

Thank you so much, Bernita!

Not sure I deserve it--been quite the slacker lately (winter makes me so sluggish).
But will definitely try to pass it on to seven others, and link to and visit the ones mentioned here.

Again, thank you. I'm honored! :)

Fairy and Raine, there's an astounding number of blogs listed on the original post!

Mon char... snort! Like that.

Some day (like, after Grad School) I hope to become truly prolific. In the interim, all I can give my demanding public (err... right...) is bad romance covers and good snark.

My word verif is "glysul." Where do they come up with this stuff?

Bernita said...

SWN, lately I've seen a lot of regular words used with one letter changed.

I will never, ever, be tired of your cover snark.

Congrats on the award.
Bun jour...*ROFL!*

Bernita said...

Then there's "Ben jour," Lana - who is Charlton Heston's cousin...

Gosh thanks!

Honi soit qui mal y pense: Honey, why did you swat Malcolm in the pants?

(I can't claim credit for that. It was in an issue of Mad Magazine around 1961.)

Chris Eldin said...

Your Valentine post gave me chills and goosebumps in all the right places. ;-)

Congratulations on your blog award, and warm wishes to those you passed it on to!

Bernita said...

Those old Mad mags were great, Archer. I corrupted my kids with them.

Thank you, Chris.

Sometimes it's good to do a vampire viral search for new blood; and nice Alex gave us the opportunity.

Natasha Fondren said...

So many new blogs to discover! And some I've lost, but now have found again!

Thanks, Bernita! :-)

Bernita said...

Prodigals - how nice, Natasha!

Aww, thanks very much Bernita! Too kind.

Thanks for the mention.

There's simply too much good stuff out there at the moment.

My blog reader groans like you growl in winter.

SzélsőFa said...

a well deserved one at that, Bernita. everytime i come here i find a couple of new, (perhaps) less common words to learn :))

Bernita said...

More exposure, Betsy, Whirl. The Mr. Linky may bring others to view your awesomeness!

Be wary, vocabulary - or rather, my use of it - isn't always orthodox!

SzélsőFa said...

that's for the better.
i need real language, even if it's a bit unusual, and not the one that is in the books :PPP

Bernita said...

SzelsoFa, I flat out admire you.

laughingwolf said...

ah shoot, thx bernita... i just dunno how to link nobody :(

...will credit you, and try to find a pal or two, though ;)

word verif: impur

[tryna tell me sumpin? :P ]

Bernita said...

LW, I don't know any blogger more prolific than your are!

BernardL said...

Thank you for mentioning me in such stellar company. :)

Thanks for thinking of me, bernita. I'll try to find some people as mouthy as me, but I think you might have gotten them all, lol.

Here's another misuse of language, but it's German:

Libeling: What a German calls the ex spouse after a bitter divorce. (Get it: liebling?) *slaps leg* I just KILL myself.

Oh, my mouth has sinned too, my friend. (Er, that didn't come out quite right.) Thank you, Bernita!!

You know I have a special place for you. You, Jaye, and I all started blogged around the same time. I have your back when you need it.

Bernita said...

You're another one who produces interesting content almost daily, Bernard - for which I am thankful.

Surely not, Written!
Good one!

"I have your back when you need it."
(I do so like lawyers - though I suppose that's a given, since I married one.)
And I for you, dear Jason, a most special and tender place.
The sheer quality and magic of your posts has never flagged or failed during these years.

AN award well-deserved, though I'd be careful talking about your Sins of the Mouth... folks might the wrong idea! ;-p

For my part, I'm going to try to get back into the swing of bloggery. It's been too long!

Bernita said...

"It's been too long!"
Yes, it has, Steve. I swing by every now and then, hopefully.

Oh dear, never thought of that - too simple minded!
