Good Things and Silly Things

Snowshoe in winter,
photo by Tom and Pat Leeson.

This is I ( or, if you prefer the vernacular: this is me)

Good Things 1:

Jaye Wells signed with Lyons Literary LLC this week!

Proof that good things do happen to good, deserving, talented people.

Please drive by to read the details and add your congratulations.

Good Things 2:

My editor at Wild Child Publishing emailed me Thursday to say she had been following the contest, that she had been particularly captivated by J.C's (# 13) voice and style, and that J.C had won a place in Weirdly II, if the writer wished to submit.

She was also highly complimentary of entries # 6 (Charles Gramlich), # 21 ( Jamie Smitten), # 10 ( StrugglingWriter), and # 12 ( Ric) .

Silly Things:
From one of those endlessly forwarded lists:

1. I'm not a complete idiot -- some parts are missing.

2. I want to die in my sleep like my grandfather -- not yelling and screaming like the other people in his car.

3. Sex on television doesn't hurt anyone -- unless they fall off.

Well, what else can I say, you have a great taste in writing a subject. Keep your track..

"I'm not a complete idiot -- some parts are missing."

I hadn't seen this one. It fit me perfectly a couple decades ago, but I've added all the pieces since then. :)

Number 10 was my favorite.

Thank you, Tutuk.

Bernard, I feel the same way. I've even added extras.

Congratulations to Jaye!!! I'm popping over right now.
(Is it Jonathan Lyons? He was my first Agent Hottie!)
:-)

Yep, Chris. He's da Man!

I think my head just exploded.

Put it back together, Jaye.

Exploded Head Syndrome is so rough on revisions.

Bernita said...

Hee, Jaye!

Jaye always has her head screwed on straight, Sarah.

Thanks for sharing the cool writerly news, but the best thing of all is the bunny in the photo!

Or so say I...

Great news all around.

Also, that makes my day that I was given "high compliments" from you editor.

Also, "I'm not a complete idiot -- some parts are missing." made me smile. Thanks!

Congratulations to Jaye, and to J.C. and to those whose work was found excellent by our editor.

Funnily enough, I had some hard times noticing the bunny on the photo!

Congrats to all concerned...well deserved.

No 2 joke has just registered...lol!

Thanks for having the contest, Bernita! It was fun to participate.

It really is amazing how much talent is out there on the blogosphere, isn't it?

A well camouflaged bunny. :)

Congrats to Jaye and J.C. It was fun to follow the contest; there are a lot of good entries.

Maybe it was my cold that blocked the brain cells, or - and more probably - the fact I just can't write 250 word pieces. They always develop a plot and a multitude of characters. ;)

It's a very nice bunny, Bunnygirl!

Yours is a very enjoyable piece, Struggling.Made me laugh out loud.

Szelsofa, I have permission to say it now: J.C is also Jaye Wells.

That's why the snowshoe rabbits change their coat from brown to white for winter.

"Double-take" jokes, Julie!
Always takes me a second or two, but I love them.

And such variety of creative minds, Written.

Gabriele, I was tempted to dedicate that picture to you.

How nice to wake up to great news (including the fact that there'll be a Weirdly 2--are you going to be featured, Bernita?).

And having an agent get back to you in one day?
Priceless...

Loved the Silly Things, lol.

Bernita said...

"And having an agent get back to you in one day?"

Gives one the impression he was really, really keen, doesn't it?

I've been asked to submit, yes, Raine.
"Featured?" No - that's for Big Names.

Charles Gramlich said...

Yes congrats to Jaye. I'll check it out. What a nice compliment from the Editor at Weirdly. Cool.

Bernita said...

Charles, she said you were her # 2 favourite.

See? Commenting on blogs can get you noticed, and sometimes published!

Congrats to Jaye. I'll zip over to visit.

It's nice that an editor took the time to offer encouragement to those who submitted to your contest. What a treat.

Bernita said...

Indeed, Sandra, but she's that sort of person.
I don't think she had time to look at the last set of entries.

Granddad at the wheel. I loved it.

Bernita said...

Me too, Sam.
My wicked mind, I suppose.

Congratulations to Jaye!

And also to the writers who have had their entries complimented by your editor. Good job!
