oil on canvas, c.1860.
For any and all of the usual reasons, this blog debouched two years ago about this time in August and now contains almost 700 posts.
A time and total that astounds me.
That I should have been able to run off at the mouth this long.
Indirectly, this statistic serves to emphasize excellent advice: if you write as little as 250 new words each day, in a year you have produced a novel.
Or ten short stories. Or five novellas. Or whatever.
The blog has also accrued an astonishing number of hits.
Sadly, the most popular subject still remains a post titled - perhaps unwisely - Medieval Porn, though one on bathtub sex runs a close second.
Obviously, such references will pump up one's hits - in a meaningless way - for those searching for such subjects are unlikely to be either writers or readers, since both exercises often employ both hands.
You all have encouraged me, helped me, taught me, delighted me.
You are a splendid lot. O brave new world that has such people in it.
